29 The Veste Coburg in the European Fortress Summer 2018 With sharp sword and cannon thunder - time travel on the Veste Coburg On the 14th and 15th of July we went on a journey through time in the his- torical setting of the Veste Coburg. Partly well-traveled actors presented and demonstrated the handling, history and technology of historical artillery and handguns, so that the cannon thunder could be heard far beyond the city of Coburg. Also in the center of the Coburg time travel was the world of historical fencing. International fencing masters performed a sharp blade and provided insights into fencing. And those who did not have enough of thunder and noisy battle could seam- lessly switch over to the 27th International Samba Festival, which took place in Coburg at the same time. As many as 3,000 artists and some 200,000 visitors from all over the world shook the city walls rhythmically.
